Villa Mexicana, Torrox
London, United Kingdom
Review Submitted: June 12, 2011 Date of Stay: May 2011
My party and I (4 of us) had really relaxing and enjoyable week at this villa. On arrival the villa was clean and tidy, just ready for us to start enjoying ourselves. The location is very peaceful with excellent views from the terrace looking across the hills to the sea.

After a quick trip to the local supermarkets we made full use of the built in barbecue and outdoor eating space. Plenty of local seafood, sausages and wines kept us supplied most evenings. For an evening out I can highly recommend the seaside town of Nerja just a few minutes drive away.

Our hosts popped in during the week to see that we were okay and to help us keep the pool spick and span. Overall we all felt well looked after and thoroughly relaxed after our stay here, we just wished we had booked two weeks instead of one!

VILLA MEXICANA

This is a lovely villa set in the mountains of Spain, and yet only a short drive to the coast - the views are wonderful. If you want to experience the 'real' Spain, this villa is perfect. It is very private and easily accessable from the main routes by car. Local villages, Frigiliana and Torrox are lovely villages for daytime or evening visits. The villa itself is clean and comfortable and the service from Ken and his wife Esther is exceptional - they also call in a couple of times during the week to clean the pool and ensure everything is ok. I would highly recommend Villa Mexicana and would definitely stay there again.

Dilemna : I speak the truth saying that we loved everything about this place, risking having it fully booked all the time and not being able to go back... or lie...? Let's be trueful...
We live in Paris so when we go to holidays, we love quietness, nature, sun... but we love going out in restaurants or tapas bars as well. You can combine all this in La Mexicana. The house is set apart in the hills with virtually no neighbours but Torrox, Nerja are easily reached by car. The pictures are trueful, the house is spotless, we would recommend this house to anyone we know.

Four visits and more to come

We've been coming here since 2004 and intend returning in 2012. Everything is as described, everytrhing is clean and well maintained. The location is excellent - secluded, good views and easy access to the restaurants in Torrox, Frigiliana and even Nerja. Drives up to Competa and Lac Vinuela are delightful and the coast from Torre del Mar up to La Herradura is within easy reach. The best restaurants locally are El Figon in Torrox Pueblo and Los Caracoles halfway to Frigiliana over the hills, also Costa del Sol on the coast going east from Torrox Costa. We really love "mooching about" in Frigiliana where the story of trhe three cultures is told via ceramic plaques on a well marked walk. All-in-all a wonderful hideaway holiday home in a beautiful location. Thankyou.

Villa in Andalucia
Paddy Hertfordshire - England
Review Submitted: June 3, 2011 Date of Stay: April 2011
The villa was exactly as described - everything one needed and it was extremely clean and welcoming - not to mention beautifully furnished in traditional style.
The location in the foothills of the Almijara Mountains was secluded, with fantastic views yet in easy reach of the beach and restaurants aplenty.
It was exactly what we were looking for. My husband and another couple spent two weeks there in June and loved it.
The covered patio area, sunny terraces and pool were great for swimming, sunbathing, reading etc. At night we barbacued and watched the sunsets-. We loved the peacefulness of the villa.
Great base for exploring Andalucia and for accessing the smaller white traditional villages of Competa, Archez, Frigiliana and also the lovely town of Nerja, which we loved.
The owners Ken and Esther are very friendly, full of local knowledge knowlegable and generally very helpful. It's very reassuring to know that you have someone neaby to call if needed.
This is a beautiful and comfortable villa,
and I would recommend it to anyone and will definitely be back in the
future.

Great Family Villa.

Dear Ken,
Many thanks for sorting out the villa for us near Torrox at such short notice. We had a fantastic time and the place was really lovely. My sister and I brought our 4 children with us (2 each, aged 4,7,8 and 10) ) and they thought the whole experience was amazing. The views were stunning, Torrox was charming and the coast was brilliant. Perfect venue for children and adults alike. Many thanks

Goodbye Villa Mexicana.
Review Submitted: June 3, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2008
Hi Ken,
We're back from our wonderful stay in Torrox and wanted to thank you and tell you what a fantastic time we had. The accommodations were perfect for 4 people-we especially enjoyed the terraces at all times of the day and evening. The villagers were charming, warm and friendly and more than happy to talk with us. We enjoyed the fact that Torrox was not a tourist village but yet close to the beaches and restaurants. Hopefully we'll return and be able to enjoy them ourselves again. We will gladly recommend your villa to anyone and hope that we'll be back next summer.
Regards,
Mrs B Kelly

Dear Ken
We've returned to Moscow this weekend after our stopovers on the way back from Malaga and wanted to thank you again for the pleasure of renting your Mexicana Torrox villa.
The villa was a wonderful, relaxing mountain hideaway. The air was pristine and the weather allowed for plenty of hiking in the area. We even got to see literally hundreds of migrating gulls fly over us and stop over on the mountainside, presumably resting up from a trip already thousands of kilometres.

Again, thank you very much.
Best regards, Nathan P

We spent a great time at Villa la Mexicana!
It's a simple yet special place where we felt home at once.
Our memories are still very vivid: the quietness, the beautiful views, the charming gardens (and the delicious figues...) the laughs of our children playing in the fresh pool. Everything was simply perfect.
Thanks again for your friendliness Ken and Esther, we would be delighted to come back.

Villa Mexicana our little place of heaven!

Review Submitted: May 30, 2015 Date of Stay: May 2015

We visited the Villa a number of years (approx. 14) ago and had a super holiday so had a good idea of what to expect.  We weren't disappointed. The villa is fantastic and has seen many additions over the years since our previous stay including the road being made up from the road to the villa. The addition of the lounge is wonderful and is a super space to relax with the view over the pool. The outside area is great with a variety of spaces to lounge about in the sunshine including the roof deck. The facilities are excellent.  A wonderful 10 days stay and I am sure we wont be leaving at as long for our next visit.

We stayed at La Mexicana this summer. The location and views are breath taking, the villa is finished to a very high standard and our children enjoyed the pool and the walks in the surrounding fields. I would definitely be coming again. Very genuine people and extremely helpful and honest.

Samer and Cindy Youssef,

We wrote a positive review in 2010 and have been back three times since then. is there anything more to say? Great as ever - it's 8:15am and the pool pump has just come on, a sign of the attention to cleanliness here. This time of the year the wasps are not as bothersome as August but they do enjoy a dip in the pool for water; silly of them as they just drown. Makes it fun for us shooing them out!
We'll be back in a couple of years.
